Don’t Look Behind the Curtain

The Massachusetts House of Representatives doesn’t want to make it too easy for you to keep tabs on their spending.  They voted to reject a rule that would have required the annual audit of the legislature be posted online.  This is another one I encourage you to contact your Rep about.  Can you think of any good reason to reject this rule?  Seriously – what are they trying to hide?  Don’t let them tell you that you can submit a request and get a paper copy.  It is cheaper, easier, and more transparent to post it online.

They are spending our money – we should be able to access the results of the audit.  I did some research and found that the audit report for other agencies is posted online (The Life Sciences Center for one) and the Annual Report from the Office of the Comptroller (which includes the audit report) is online….so they can’t tell us that it can’t be done.  Say it with me folks…Shenanigans!
